Back in 2009, I purchased a few sets of this bookmatched AA Sitka Spruce top wood from a notable Luthier in Washington State, in the Pacific Northwest of the US. At that time this beautiful, favoured tonewood had been drying for over two years. A year later these are perfect and ready for use in acoustic and semi-acoustic instrument builds.

This A+ to AA grade top wood features very consistant colour, straight tight grain (~12 grain lines per inch) and good stiffness to provide great tone and strength.

Each quartersawn half top measures just over 7.75in x 22in / 19.75cm x 56cm and have been thicknessed to approximately .140in / 4mm thick. Average weight is approximately 180g per piece.

These solid, three or four piece pre-glued Basswood body blanks measure out to just under 16in x 20in- perfect for most guitar body shapes. These are perfect for dark stains and dyes as well as solid colour finishes including nitro and acrylic lacquers. Basswood is a great timber to work with because it requires little or no grain filling and it's easy to cut and rout. They have been thickness planed to just shy of 1.75in but will require some sanding after cutting.
